Picture Time!!!!!

This is area 2 and also my last area...  Its beautiful and you get to see pictures from when I first got there and when I left so its cool to see how its changed!!!  Some of the fall color is amazing and I LOVE it:):)

This was in the summer so its all very green!!!

In the spring this field is full of bulbs and we leave a path so people can walk through it!!!  I hear its pretty amazing!!!!

This is the old rose garden... its not just a natural perennial boarder that people can walk through... They would like to take it back to more roses but it will take lots of time to get it done...

These are the sun perennials that are used by the florists in the arrangements for the mansion!!!!

This is the compost pile that Matt takes care of and is also where we drop all the waist from the work we do!!!!

Look at the fall color... I LOVE it!!!

This is from the summer so it has more flowers and lots of green!!!

November 19...

First thing this morning I took the power equipment test with Dave and that went well!!!!  I think I did really well on it... I do think though that the test is very repetitive and they should rewrite it... but I have no control over that so its cool!!!!  After that Mishelle gave us the hand tool test and that went pretty good too!!!  


For lunch we had the intern appreciation and that was fun!!!  I like it when we have food in the head house because then everyone comes in and I get to talk to everyone and not just the same few people that always go in there:):)  After that was all done I went and weeded the rest of the day!!!

November 18...

Well today I started off again with burning weeds... As I was burning away I started thinking if I was killing the roots or just burning off the tops???  I asked Alex and he said I was burning all of it but then I asked Matt and he said he didnt know... I kept thinking about it and came up with this!!!!  "It does not matter if it kills the roots because its too hard to pull them out anyway and its super fast to burn them so as long as it looks nice thats all the matters"!!!  


After that we finished planting the garage beds with eurysimum and some other annuals!!!!  After we finished that Matt was out working with the compost and we had a few extra min till my plant ID final... so she took me around and showed me the area!!!!  This was fun and I am glad I got something before I was done with that area!!!  


We took the plant ID final and I did really bad on it:):)  I studied for the last few minuted for the other tests I will be taking tomorrow!!!!

November 17...

Today I started with burning weeds... if you have ever done this you know how fun it is:):)  I loved watching the weed shrivel under the heat and turn black!!!  I did that till our workshop and then Dave talked to us about plant problems... this was a way interesting workshop for me and I learned lots!!!  Its a lot to remember though so I know it is something I will need to keep working on:):)  After we were done with that I helped Matt and Mishelle plant bulbs in the the garage beds!!!  This was fun but it was also way interesting to see how differently they work in comparison with the other areas I have been in...

November 16...

Today was fun!!!  I weeded till our compost workshop... this was a fun workshop and I learned a lot of stuff that I will take back and use at my home!!!  My family has composted for a while but I think we are doing it a little wrong... There are totally a few things we could change that would make it so much better!!!  


After that I helped build shelves for package pickup during HT...  This was kind of fun to get to work with Matt and Mishelle and watch them work together:):)  When we finished with the benches I helped spread manure over the garage beds and finished up the day with weeding along the balustrade again!!!

November 15...

First day in area 2 and it went ok!!  It was not like most first days in an area but I think its because we are just so busy right now with HT and getting everything ready for winter...  


Since it was different I got right to work and was pretty busy all day!!!!  We finished planting the balustrade beds and I dug out a bunch of perennials form the garage beds.  This was fun and I dug out a lot of them... It was a little ridiculous but it all works out:):)  After I was finished I helped weed for last little while all along the balustrade boxwoods!!!!

Picture Time!!!!!

This is all area one and it was a lot of fun working there!!!  It was a very large area... it covered around the mansion, around the Visitor Center and all along the road to the north entrance.  Here are some pictures that I thought were fun from that area!!!!

Sorry this one is not as informative as others but it was just so large that it really is hard to capture it all and make sense of it... It was beautiful though:):):)
